Rients Aapkes, Director, is a Dutch national who studied German and French in the Netherlands. He moved to Luxembourg in 1989 and started working for Pan-European financial services industry. Since 1990 he worked for a UK based Life insurance company and was made responsible for the distribution networks in Belgium, Germany and Austria.  In 2000 he started to work for a Luxembourg based insurance brokerage where he developed the German and Austrian market.  During the course of these years Rients was also involved in the introduction of two Irish subsidiaries of UK based life companies in Belgium and or Germany and Austria. In December 2006 Rients sold his insurance brokerage and its distribution to a UK based life insurance company.  Rients has a wealth of international life insurance business experience and speaks Dutch, German, French and English fluently.

Nicholas Illgen, Director, is a Swiss citizen, but born, raised and educated in Germany. After University he worked several years in a bank and was promoted to branch manager. In 1988 he relocated to Luxembourg where he joined a large German bank and was responsible for managing corporate clients throughout Europe.  He then moved to the Private banking department where he established relationships with high net worth clientele scattered throughout Europe.  In his function as a Director in the bank he developed new and very successful relationships with UK life insurance companies, which became an important part of the private client business. In 1999 he became the Managing Director and shareholder of an insurance brokerage. Nicholas was responsible for building and managing a broker sales force in Germany. In January 2007 Nicholas sold his shareholding to a UK based life insurance company.  Nicholas has a wide experience in managing and developing the life insurance business on a pan-European basis and speaks German and English fluently.

Jan Hudson, Managing Director, is a US citizen who immigrated to Germany in March 1965 immediately after completing his studies in Business Administration at the University of Tennessee. He founded American-European Insurance Services to broker US life insurance in Europe. Jan is Past President of the European Association of Life Underwriters and Past President of the European General Agents and Managers Association. Jan is currently a member of the board of the Ordre Luxembourgeois des Courtiers en Assurance ASBL – The Luxembourg Association of Insurance Brokers. Jan is fluent in English and German.

Eric Duphil, Director, is a French citizen who graduated from the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne with a Bachelor degree in Mathematics and a Masters degree in Economics – International Business and Finance. This was followed by a stint as a Financial Analyst at BNP - Banque Nationale de Paris International Headquarter in Paris and Dayton & Arcis Capital Partners, S.A. in Paris and San Francisco. Eric relocated to Luxembourg in 1998 to join American Financial Management, Inc. and later American-European Insurance Services. Eric is primarily involved in product development with AEIB.

Koen Lozie, J.D., LL.M. is a Belgian citizen who provides outside support for AEIB clientele in their estate and inheritance tax planning. Koen graduated with a JD, magna cum laude, from Ghent State University, Belgium and then obtained his LL.M. Master of Laws with a specialty in US international tax law from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He recently added a Master in Personal Financial Planning from the University of Antwerp Management School.

Following his studies Koen worked as a consultant for KPMG in Belgian tax law and Ernst & Young Tax consultants. He subsequently relocated to the Netherlands Antilles where he was Assistant Director of an International Trust Company. He returned to Luxembourg as Legal Counsel for Banque Cogeba-Gonet, currently BGL Mees Pierson. In 1997, he established himself as an independent Estate Planner in Luxembourg.
